Polka Dots || Alexus Fay Tries Avoid Color

Hey Luvs,
So based on the last outfit post I mentioned that I was going to start posting more edgy outfit posts that are casual - stylish. So I did something I haven't done in a while and that was avoid color (or did I). I paired a white top with black jeans and boots, but wait! How does this outfit become edgy?? Well, the shirt is boxed shaped giving us a angular silhouette. The jeans are simply black which gives a clean look to any outfit really. What really stands out in this ensemble is the shoes, the boots shape and design screams motor babe, with a huge silver zipper accenting the sides.

Today I took a break and decided to get some editing done with my girl Khiamma. We grabbed our laptops and just chilled out in The Springs, a very modern boheme place with a good selection of music. What I've come to realize is that I enjoy blogging a lot more, I literally blog instead of doing homework. A word of advice : get your laptop and a find a cool space and just do!

Hey Luvs,

Pairing a solid color tee with jeans is a classic - comfy on the go look. Plus, if you aren't too keen on crazy pattern and color it eases you into that realm of things. Slowly, you will learn what color compliment you the best and what types of shirts you rock better. As for shoes, pairing sneakers with an outfit like this will definitely hit those street vibes. Or pairing some amazing stand out shoes will give a casual look a more stylish air. It really depends on what you're going for and what makes you comfortable.

Its been a while since I've uploaded a style post and it was great shooting, being in front of the camera again. However, today's ensemble was as casual as it gets a tee, jeans, and point shoes. Recently, I've been into solid tops with casual bottoms- everything requiring minimal effort. Sadly, for the next three posts or so I plan on being a bit more stylish, so simple tee and jeans look will be absent for a quick minute. I want to try out some other styles and see if I can "casualize" them! I will tackle more edgier styles and get back to that edgy girl that I used to don lol. But definitely stay tuned because I am switching lanes and it'll be exciting!

Hi Luvs,
Pattern is probably one of the most slept on stylistic choices in personal style tbh. The reason I feel like so is because many people are afraid of it. Pattern are for very brave people, being able to pair a pattern piece like my shirt takes a lot of freedom and courage. To be able to wear color and pattern takes an even bolder personality. Pattern pieces are always the highlight of any outfit so it's best to pair it with something of similar solid color (like my blue jeans match the blue in the shirt) so the outfit is still cohesive.

Wearing pattern is something I had dropped because I felt like pattern was not "in". But as I was picking through my closet I found this shirt and honestly the damn thing brought back so many memories of the skater me in lbc (yes black girls skate) and made me realize how far I've come since those days. Back then I was probably the very definition of a Tomboy, never wore dresses (something that I still don't really wear), lived in ripped jeans and sneakers (like my collection was siiick).

I am understanding that I don't have a definite style. My style is what I feel comfortable in, what I feel I am in that moment I decide to put on some clothes. I know that I can wear dresses, wear oversized clothing, and be edgy and still be me. I find categories to be suffocating, especially in today's society where we are not allowed to be multifaceted, but instead we are praised for fitting into a genre (especially when it comes to fashion). I don't mind breaking that mold because it doesn't make me uncomfortable to be "other".  As long as you're confident in who you are, the rest will follow and acknowledge you for you!

Saint Heron Musical Evening || Alexus Dance Among Stellar Vibes

Hi Luvs,
So about two weeks ago on Sunday me and Khiamma attended a event hosted by Saint Heron. For those of you who may not know, Saint Heron is headed by Solange, it is a platform "designed to give new and ingenious artists a space to create their music and circulate their art." This event featured the lovely Kelsley Lu, gorgeous babe and otherworldly vocals, amazing spirit. It was a spiritual treat and tons of great vibes and beautiful people. An amazing opportunity to network with people and unfortunately I left behind my camera sd card (i lost it) and was unable to film the event as well as feature amazing people on my blog (i was really bummed out yall). But Khiamma brought her camera and was able to get these amazing shots of me, so all was well.

We must appreciate the moments in life where we immerse ourselves in things we love. Laugh and dance is a way to release these moments.
